Pictures in Siena Tuscany Italy
I finally updated SofieHofmann.com Travel section. I just uploaded the pages and our pictures in Siena, Tuscany, Italy, when we spent our long weekend break there in Autumn 2005. A lot of the pictures should have been placed at the Photography section since I was not even in the picture most of the time as I was the photographer.

The picture above has nothing to do with Siena. We just saw that head hanging on the wall in one of the shops in the city of Siena in Tuscany, Italy. I thought it would be nice to put it here since I took this photo anyway in Siena.
The trip was fun but quite tiring. I was just one of the boys. That trip was supposed to be only for the guys. My hubby, Erich, and his friends would go out together on a trip once a year. Since the 3 others didn’t make it, I was invited to join them. Well, the price that I had to pay for going with them, I had to get up early everyday because the guys really got up early. We travelled from one place to another, visiting wine cellars and tasting wines. The wines we tasted at those vineyards and the wines we drunk at the restaurants were really good. Tuscan wines are really good. Well, we also made sure that we tasted and got the best ones and not the ones being sold commercially. Be careful with those kinds of wines. What was good about that wine tasting, I didn’t get drunk. If you want to know what I am talking about, view our pictures in Italy at the Travel section.
Even if that trip was tiring, I really enjoyed it especially the food. The food was great. One of those nights, we went to this restaurant called La Frateria di Padre Eligio in Convento di San Francesco not knowing about the prepared menu for the night. We thought it was just a normal restaurant. When we arrived, the monks were wearing coats and tuxedos, and some of us were wearing jeans. What a surprise! We were not given this normal menu card rather a quite personalized one where the lists of the food to be served for that night were handwritten. When we read the card, another surprise… an 8 course menu on the card. Yes, an 8 course menu!!! I was not able to eat all the 8 but I still enjoyed it. What a pity, I couldn’t eat the beef steak. I just couldn’t take it anymore. We didn’t care about the price, the food was really good.
Another thing that I like about that trip was, I was able to drink pure chocolate, as in pure hot chocolate without cream. I really loved it. If you would like to try it, be careful, because if they serve it really hot, your tonque might get burned.
Aside from the wines and food of Tuscany specifically in Siena, I enjoyed its landscapes, its unique towns, its town squares, its narrow streets, its structures, its castles, its castle towers, its churches, its bell towers, and a lot more.

Have fun viewing our photos in Siena, Tuscany, Italy! Ciao! Arrivederci!
