Golf, Grimsel Pass, Furka Pass

It was a sunny day today, yesterday, and the days before yesterday. It’s nice to play golf and we actually started playing golf since last week. Hub and I are members of Source du Rhône Golf Club and the opening tournament was on June 03, 2006.

We joined the opening tournament and again another tournament last Saturday, June 10, 2006. It was the third time we played golf this year. The first one was in the Philippines. We only played once in the Philippines at the Valley Golf and Country Club. Thank you P, B and A!

I actually have not been playing my handicap since last year after I won at the Hotel Edelweiss sponsored Golf Tournament of the Riederalp Golf Club (photo) on July 17, 2005. I was so dissatisfied the way I played golf for the past tournaments. For one thing, I have not been practicing. I just joined the tournament without striking any golf balls at the driving range nor at the chipping greens. I know something was wrong with my grip. I need to find out what went wrong. So, before we played 9 holes yesterday, I went to the driving range and corrected my grip. When we finished playing 9 holes, I was happy with the result. It was not fantastic but I exactly played my handicap. That’s what I need, just to know that I know what I’m supposed to do the next time I play golf.

I’m always excited to play golf. I’m always excited to go to Obergesteln, which is at least an hour and a half drive from Weggis via Furka Pass. We would always pass through Furka Pass but this time we have to travel via Grimsel Pass. Something happened near the Gotthard Tunnel. The highway is closed for the timebeing. So, for the past 2 Saturdays, we have been passing through Grimsel Pass which is actually 2 hours and 15 minutes drive from our place. Despite that, I still enjoyed it.

That’s the way going up to Grimsel Pass

To the left is the way to Grimsel Pass and to the right is the way to Furka Pass
Furka Pass is a pass in the Swiss Alps, which is 2,436 meters above sea level

Grimsel Pass is 2,615 meters above sea level

It is always a delight passing through Grimsel Pass or Furka Pass, seeing the alps and the magnificent panoramic views. For me, it is so relaxing and invigorating.

Note: I updated the Golf section, added Source du Rhône Golf Club and Valley Golf and Country Club.

What a lovely and peaceful landscape!

  2. Thanks Doc Emer, nice of you to drop by. We prefer to go up to Grimsel Pass or Furka Pass than use the tunnel. Who would wanna use the tunnel, anyway? :)
