Farmers’ Festival Weggis
We just stayed in Weggis on November 12, 2006. We went first to the church to attend the mass at 9:00 am, then went to watch the “Folklore Show” at 10:30 am, and finally, watch the parade at past 2:00 pm as part of the Farmers’ Festival Weggis or popularly known as “Sennenchilbi Weggis” 2006.

The Farmers’ Association of Weggis was founded 320 years ago and is the oldest association in the village. It has managed to preserve its customs and traditions over the past 300 years.

We met Mrs. Petty Sahli whom I call Ate Pet, and the Kuettel family, Dani, Jodethe and Lois at the “Folklore Show”. Then we went to the hall to have some lunch, and at 2:00 pm, we went to watch the parade all together.

We also saw my husband Erich’s brother, Martin, his wife Marianne, and their children Patrick and Sonja during the parade.
Then it rained, so Ate Pet, Dani and Jodethe with Lois, my mother and my niece left. I wanted to finish taking pictures of all the 46 families, with their floats, who participated at the parade, so I didn’t go with them. I just followed them at Ate Petty’s place after the parade.

The last “Sennenchilbi Weggis” was 5 years ago, and the next “Sennenchilbi” will be in 5 years from now, in 2011. We enjoyed this year’s “Sennenchilbi” despite the cold weather. See you next time!

Hi Sofie
Nice pics. I also made a blog about our weekend happening, but my editor in chief of the Video is still busy figuring out, how the video would work.:)

Hi Jodethe,
It was really fun that day. It was nice meeting you, Dani and Lois, and Ate Pet once again. My mother and niece enjoyed it too. I just realized that I didn’t have a lot of pics of our group that Sunday, but I have a lot of pictures of the parade.
Anyway, I wanted to suggest to upload the video at YouTube or Yahoo or Google Video after I read your comment, but then I thought I’ll check your blog first. I saw that he finally figured it out
and was able to upload the video at YouTube.
Next time uli! Saya natin e…
