St. Moritz, Top of the World
The night before yesterday, Erich thought of going to the Swiss Italian speaking part as it was reported that it would be foggy here in Weggis. It turned out that the weather forecast yesterday morning, November 15, 2006, was that, it would be foggy too at the area near Lago Maggiore.

When we left the house, Erich didn’t tell me where we were going but he knew that my niece would like to have some pictures with the snow. He told me that there might be some at the Julier Pass.
Just to make sure that we will have some pictures with the snow, we passed by Oberalp Pass and there were indeed some snow up there. Oberalp Pass is 2,044 meters above sea level.

Oberalp Pass is a mountain pass in the Swiss Alps between Disentis/Mustér and Andermatt. Disentis/Mustér is a municipality in the district of Surselva, canton of Graubünden or Grisons in Switzerland. Andermatt is a town in the canton of Uri in Switzerland.

When Erich actually mentioned Julier Pass, I didn’t realize that until later when I checked the map. When I saw the map, I got excited, I then thought that we might end up in St. Moritz as I really would like to go back there. Indeed, St. Moritz was our destination.
On our way to St. Moritz, we stopped by Savognin to eat lunch. We stopped by the Marmorera Lake, Julier Pass, and Silvaplana to have some pictures. It was really cold in those places especially in Julier Pass and along the lake in Silvaplana.

Marmorera Lake or “Marmorerasee” or “Lai da Marmorera” is an artificial lake used as a reservoir.

Julier Pass is a mountain pass in the Swiss Alps which is 2,284 meters above sea level. It was so cold at the Julier Pass at 3 degrees centigrade. We were freezing. It was so windy too. Look at my hair!

St. Moritz is one of the most popular destinations in Switzerland, and said to be one of the most renowned holiday resorts of the world. St. Moritz is a town in the Engadine valley, district of Maloja in the canton of Graubünden in Switzerland. St. Moritz is 1,822 meters above sea level.

Although, the temperature was between 4 and 5 degrees centigrade in St. Moritz, it wasn’t that cold than Julier Pass. Anyway, we left Hotel Waldhaus am See at past 4:00 pm after we ate our desserts. We decided to go home to Weggis. Erich didn’t want to stay in St. Moritz.

manang sofie, musta ulit? hehehehe tenkyu sa fonecall, ang sweet sweet mo talaga kahit may pagka baliw rin minsan, minsan lang naman ahihihihi….
we were in st. moritz exactly 10 years ago, late october to early november. it’s so beautiful up there, well, come to think of it, it’s so beautiful anywhere up there in switzerland basta nasa bulubundukin. we stayed at the st. moritz youth hostel then and what has really got stuck in my head up to now is the most delicious yoghurt i’ve ever eaten in my life which the hostel served for breakfast. i think sumakay din kami jan sa panoramic train na yan tapos papunta kung saan nandun yung matterhorn. switzerland is so peaceful and so laid back. tapos nung nanjan kami, panay ang tanong ko dun sa hostel guy kung saan makakabili ng bottled water; sagot nya, “you don’t need bottled water, switzerland has the cleanest and tastiest water in the world, go and drink from the tap” oo nga naman pala. manul talaga ako gid.

Hello Atinna!
I would recommend taking the panoramic train from St. Moritz to Zermatt where Matterhorn is or vice-versa. Maganda yang trip na yan although di ko pa nagagawa, lagi kasing nasa kotse dahil Erich is willing to drive naman.
We had our honeymoon in St. Moritz kaya love ko talaga yang place na yan.
Have a lovely weekend, my dear!

Miss yah too!
