Der Rheinfall, The Rhine Falls

Friday, November 17, 2006 @ 11:58 pm by Sofie Hofmann

Yesterday, November 16, 2006, we went to Neuhausen in Schaffhausen to see “Der Rheinfall”. Rheinfall is the largest waterfall in Europe. The Rhine Falls are the largest plain waterfalls in Europe. Rheinfall and Rhine Falls are one and the same. Rheinfall, in German language, is singular and masculine unlike the Rhine Falls.

We arrived just after 12 noon and parked the car outside the Laufen Castle or “Schloss Laufen”. We were hungry already but wanted to see the Rhine Falls first, so off we go and enjoy the sight of the waterfalls despite the fog. It was great seeing “Der Rheinfall”.

After taking pictures, we ate lunch at the “Restaurant Schloss Laufen”, hoping that after our meal, we will be able to see the Rhine Falls once more with a better view.

Just before we left, we thought of seeing the “Rheinfall” again. It was great this time, there was still some fog but clearer than when we saw it before we had our lunch. It probably took 10-20 minutes when it became so foggy again. Fantastic! We saw the “Rheinfall” in one of its best.

We left the place at past 3:00 pm and went to St. Gallen. It took us at least 55 minutes from where the “Rheinfall” is located to St. Gallen, just to see the St. Gall or “St. Gallen” Cathedral.

Do you sell your trip information as a travel guide in Switzerland so that other Swiss-Filipinos can use it to entertain their guests? You could call it the Swiss-Filipino Travel Guide – How to entertain one’s guests, hehehe… :)

  3. Hello cheH!

Maganda talaga yong Rheinfall lalo nat maraming tubig ngayon.

Maganda magpunta rito pag spring time at early autumn para di pa masyadong malamig.
