Der Rheinfall, The Rhine Falls

We went to Laufen-Uhwiesen in in the canton of Zurich to see “Der Rheinfall” or the Rhine Falls. Rheinfall is the largest waterfall in Europe. The Rhine Falls are the largest plain waterfalls in Europe.

We arrived just after 12:00 noon and parked the car outside the Laufen Castle or “Schloss Laufen”. We were hungry already but wanted to see the Rhine Falls first, so off we go and enjoy the sight of the waterfalls despite the fog. It was great seeing “Der Rheinfall”.

After taking pictures, we ate lunch at the “Restaurant Schloss Laufen”.

We left the place at past 3:00 p.m. and went to St. Gallen. It took us at least 55 minutes from where the “Rheinfall” is located to St. Gallen, just to see the St. Gall or “St. Gallen” Cathedral.

The St. Gall Cathedral with the abbey was declared a UNESCO World Cultural Heritage in 1983.
