Bahnhofstrasse, Zurich
We went to Zurich on Monday, November 20, 2006. We left the house at past 12 nn after we had our lunch. We left Weggis with the boat at 1:12 pm via Lucerne instead of Rotkreuz. We left Lucerne at 2:10 pm and arrived at the Zurich Main or Central Railway Station just 4 minutes before 3:00 pm.

Our trip from Lucerne Train Station to Zurich Main or Central Railway Station with the IR (InterRegio) train was fast because we only had 2 stops along the way unlike the other ordinary trains.

Once we arrived in Zurich, we ate first before walking along Bahnhofstrasse of Zurich. We had some desserts at the floor below the Zurich Main or Central Railway Station.

Zurich Main or Central Railway Station is the central and biggest railway station in Zurich popularly known as “Zürich Hauptbahnhof or Zürich HB” in Switzerland.

Bahnhofstrasse is a popular street in Zurich. It starts at the Zurich Main or Central Railway Station, and ends at 1.4 kilometers away from Buerkliplatz (Bürkliplatz) by the Lake of Zurich.

Paradeplatz along Bahnhofstrasse is one of the famous squares in Zurich and very important as well since the two biggest Swiss banks in Switzerland, UBS (Union Bank of Switzerland) and Credit Suisse have their headquarters there.

It was a long walk for my mother up to Bürkliplatz by the lake of Zurich but we made it. By the time we reached Bürkliplatz, it was already a little bit cold by the lake of Zurich. It was a nice walk though.
It was also a bit dark, so we decided to take the tram from Bürkliplatz to the Zurich Main Station. We needed to take the train from Zurich going to Schlieren where Hub would be waiting for us going home to Weggis. He didn’t like to drive to the city because of the heavy traffic. Anyway, it was only a 10-minute train ride from Zurich to Schlieren.

Just for your information,
since I’m not from Zurich and I rarely commute going to Zurich and vice versa, I didn’t know how to use the tram to go around the area. Hub and I would go to Zurich with the car. Anyway, good thing, we figured it out. Funny for me though, but it was an experience. Next time I commute going to Zurich, I know what to do.
