Samal Island, Davao, Philippines
I have been to Davao before, when I was assigned there for work. So when I heard that Beng will settle in the Philippines and that is in Davao, I called her up. I told her that I will try to visit her if ever I will go to the Philippines in April.

I planned to go to Davao City on May 2 to 4, 2008 just to visit Beng, but I got sick. So I sent her a message that I might not be able to go to Davao because I was sick. Well, based on the title of this entry, yes, I actually made it. I went to Davao and was able to visit Beng.
I took the evening flight going to Davao on May 2, 2008. The flight from Manila to Davao was less than 2 hours. And when I arrived in Davao, it was raining. Beng and the kids fetched me at the airport. Then we went to a Thai restaurant and had our dinner. Afterwards, they brought me to their home and just talked for the whole evening until 4 o’clock in the morning.
With that, of course, we got up late the next day. For me, if I am on vacation, time does not really matter. I just would like to enjoy, so no pressure at all unless I need to catch a flight.
Anyway, we wanted to go to Pearl Farm but the day tour was already fully booked so we opted for Paradise Island Park and Beach Resort and booked for an overnight stay there. The place was decent and clean. The employees were nice and friendly. But the problem was, we were not allowed to bring any food and drinks inside the room. We even had to ask if water was allowed.
Well, thanks goodness, it was allowed.
Beng and the kids went swimming. I did not. It was already enough for me that I was able to visit Beng as I promised. I just enjoyed looking at the water from the sea which normally makes me calm.
After that, we had our dinner. Later on, we went to the bar and ordered some drinks. The bar closed before midnight. Other than that, there was nothing more to do. Despite that, I still enjoyed our stay at the resort. It was not about the place but it was about the people I was with.

The next day, we got up late again
and had our lunch a little bit early. Then we checked out and watched Samal, a music and dance presentation showcasing the rich culture of the people of Samal and its famous festivals. After the show, we went around the area, went to the playing ground and to the mini-zoo.

We left the resort and went back to Beng’s place. We just chatted and waited for my evening flight back to Manila.
Once again, thank you Beng for having me in your place. Thanks for everything! I enjoyed talking with you!

hi there i’m a filipino canadian planning to visit samal island davao,,what can u offer in terms of sight seeing, never been there they said its a beauty,,were been through the carrebean but this year wanna try something new,,,what was in there that more fun than others like boracay,,,,,,,,suggestion i should ask.
Hello alexndher!
I’m not from Davao, so I can’t really tell you a lot. Although I’ve been to Davao several times, I’ve just been to Samal Island once. The resort where we stayed is private and the beach area is small. The resort is not really that big and there’s nothing to do during the night. But it offers sightseeing tour packages around the island and other destinations like going to a waterfall among others. Then I heard that Pearl Farm is great, although I have not been there yet. It’s private too.
Samal Island is just a few minutes boat ride from the main Island Davao. If you like to see the Philippine eagles, you can also ask the resort for a tour going to where the Philippines eagles are located, it’s just a little bit far from the city though.
Samal Island have a lot of resorts just like Boracay but as I see it, it’s not really like Boracay where you have a long stretch of white sand beach. You just have to find a resort in Samal Island that is to your liking and see what it can offer you.
Gosto ko mag punta jan sa beach ninyo?kng maka uwi ako jan sa davao
