Kasbah Boracay Moroccan Cafe, Boracay Island, Philippines
On May 20, 2009, the day we arrived in White Beach Boracay, Hub and I went out for lunch at Kasbah Boracay. Kasbah is a restaurant and bar, a Moroccan Cafe located at Station 1, Boracay Island, Philippines.
I told Hub that I really wanted to eat at Kasbah as I was not able to eat there when my nieces and I went to Boracay in April 2008. We were staying at the formerly Lorenzo South then located at Sitio Angol in Brgy. Manoc-Manoc so it was such a long walk for us from one end to another end of the 7-kilometer Boracay island white sand beach.

Once we arrived at Kasbah, I asked the staff of Kasbah if Madonna was around. Donna is the lady owner of Kasbah Boracay. I met Donna together with Atinna and Sha in Amsterdam in April 2007.
Yes, indeed Donna was in Boracay but she was just not at the Cafe during that time. I asked the staff if they could tell Donna that I was around. I told them that we were eating at Kasbah anyway.
We ordered some food and while waiting for the food, I was told that Donna would like to talk to me on the phone.
That was so nice! They actually told Donna that I was at Kasbah. We waited for Donna until she arrived. It was not such a bad idea as we still have to eat lunch anyway.
We only had a light lunch at Kasbah. We were not that hungry then so we just ordered some Fresh Ripe Mango Juices, Tangier Calamares as starters, Couscous, Chicken and Prawns Brochettes (Skewers) as the main courses, and Panna Cotta for dessert.
You would think that the skewers were just the same like the other skewers but what they had at Kasbah were different. Their skewers or brochettes were really good. The taste was just different from the skewers we were used to in the Philippines.
I had no idea what made the Moroccan skewers different from the other skewers though.
Let me quote Kasbah regarding its brochettes: “Morocco is renowned for its street stall food of savoury skewers seasoned with cumin, coriander, lemon, garlic and black pepper served with chermoula or harissa dip. Succulently tender.”
Among the spices that they used, I have no idea which made the skewers tasted so good because I am not into cooking. But I think I know that I have a good taste when in comes to food.
I have no idea regarding the other menu aside from what we ate but Hub and I were satisfied with the food. The Tangier Calamares, the stuffed squids with exquisite combination of garlic, herbs and rice, drizzled in spiced sauce were definitely good. The Couscous was not so dry and I thought that it was really good.
The prices of the food were reasonable for us but for some Filipinos, I heard that the price was a little bit too much for them. Well, it depends on the way you looked at it. For Hub and I, it was just like eating in Manila in a nice restaurant serving good food.
We will for sure go back to Kasbah the next time we go to Boracay.
Oh before I forgot, do not forget to have some tea after dessert.

Kasbah Boracay is a good long walk from Boracay Mandarin located at Station 2. Boracay Mandarin is more or less in the middle of the island while Kasbah is almost at the end of the island after Residencia Boracay but before Fridays Boracay.
The beach area at Kasbah was not crowded. The restaurant itself was not crowded. The ambience was nice and really relaxing. The price we paid at Kasbah was just worth it.
If you want to eat good food, go to Kasbah Boracay!
