Big Buddha, Ngong Ping Village, Lantau Island, Hong Kong
On May 29, 2009, after we had our Yum Cha at Federal Palace in Citygate, we went up to Ngong Ping Village to see the Tian Tan Buddha Statue popularly known as the Big Buddha.
Instead of going up to Ngong Ping Village with the bus we went up there with the Ngong Ping Cable Car from the Tung Chung Terminal. The Ngong Ping 360 ride from Tung Chung Terminal was about 25 minutes up to Ngong Ping Terminal in Ngong Ping Village.

We did not regret taking the Ngong Ping 360 Cable Car as the aerial view from the cable car was spectacular. From Tung Chung Terminal, we have seen the ocean surrounding the areas, the whole view of the Chek Lap Kok Hong Kong International Airport and the Tung Chung New Town with its high-rise residential buildings.
As we approached the Ngong Ping Village while inside the cable car, we saw the Po Lin Monastery and the Big Buddha. The Tian Tan Buddha Statue was really huge. When we went down from Ngong Ping Village to Tung Chung, we again rode the Ngong Ping Cable Car and saw the same fantastic panoramic views.
The Ngong Ping 360 is a tourism project which was previously known as Tung Chung Cable Car Project. Ngong Ping 360 is consists of the Ngong Ping Cable Car formerly known as Ngong Ping 360 Skyrail, and the Ngong Ping Village.
The Ngong Ping Cable Car Tung Chung Terminal is located in Tung Chung, Lantau Island, Hong Kong. It is near Citygate, Tung Chung Crescent, and MTR Tung Chung Station.
Ngong Ping Village is a highland on the western part of Lantau Island. It is a hill which hosts the Po Lin Monastery and the Tian Tan Buddha Statue. There are a lot of establishments at the Ngong Ping Village where you can eat and shop.
The Tian Tan Buddha Statue or the Big Buddha is amidst the hills of the Ngong Ping Village. Big Buddha is about 34 meters high and said to be one of the biggest Buddha statues in the world.

Tian Tan Buddha or the Big Buddha in my opinion is a must see if you are going to visit Hong Kong. Even if you are not really into cable cars as you have ridden several ones already, you have got to ride the Ngong Ping 360 Cable Car. I could really say that the aerial view from Ngong Ping 360 Cable Car was simply impressive.
