Grand Lisboa, Macau Peninsula, Macau
We have not been to a lot of places yet in Macau Peninsula during our Macau Day Tour on May 30, 2009 when we got hungry. After visiting Macau Cathedral, we could not find a restaurant to our liking so we decided to have lunch at the Grand Lisboa upon seeing all the time the imposing tower of the casino hotel.
We also wanted to sit and eat comfortably. But before having lunch, we did not forget taking pictures and see the exhibition at the other end of the ground floor lobby near the hallway to the elevators when we arrived at the Grand Lisboa.

Grand Lisboa has a fountain inside the hotel situated at the ground floor lobby. There were also different big dark sculptures which I was not able to identify aside from the sculptures at the small exhibition area near the hallway to the elevators.
The staircase near the hallway to the lift was so impressive and the chandelier on the ceiling just almost above the staircase was grandiose. The ceiling of the whole ground floor lobby was definitely extravagantly flamboyant.
The sculptures were huge. One of the sculptures which I luckily got a picture of the description was the Celestial Treasure Jade Sculpture featuring “Causing a Tumult at the Heavenly Peace”.
According to the description, “Causing a Tumult at the Heavenly Peace is an episode taken from Traveling to the West. One of the four great classical novels of ancient China. Several renowned master sculptors have painstakingly presented, with superb artistry, this theme on a huge piece of jade, vividly featuring Tathagata Buddha, the Three Great Bodhisattvas, the Jade Emperor, the Four Heavenly Kings, the Monkey King and a number of Celestial Warriors well integrated into a background of classical Chinese architectural structures and vegetation. Particularly awe-inspiring and magnificent is the Tathagata Buddha whose compassionate face alone occupies an area as large as 0.35 square meter.”
The jade sculpture has a width of 145cm, length of 112cm and depth of 80cm.
After looking at the various sculptures, we went up to the upper second floor and had our lunch at the Round-the-Clock Coffee Shop. It was not merely a coffee shop as it offered a wide selection of specialties from all over the world.
The food was good which I did not expect from a casino hotel even if Grand Lisboa was created with seven-star inspiration. Round-the-Clock was just an ordinary coffee shop and restaurant compared to the Michelin-rated restaurant Don Alfonso 1890 located at the third floor at the Grand Lisboa. The price of the food at Round-the-Clock Coffee Shop was reasonable too.
So to speak, we enjoyed our lunch at the Round-the-Clock Coffee Shop at the Grand Lisboa.

Casino Lisboa, the original Casino Lisboa with its three-storey-complex and 12-storey round hotel tower were built in 1960s and 1970 respectively. In 2006, another extension was built next to the complex in Macau, a 261 meters or 856 feet tall Grand Lisboa with 58 floors.
Grand Lisboa is located along Avenida do Infante D. Henrique and Avenida de Lisboa. Grand Lisboa is located at the heart of Macau Peninsula and being one of the tallest buildings in Macau which can be seen from most locations, it is being considered as the new landmark in Macau.
I already mentioned it, we decided to eat at the Grand Lisboa because we always saw its tower from almost all the places that we visited and while we were walking.
