Black Eyed Peas’ Filipino Song
I heard this rap song several months ago when I was surfing YouTube. I saw these young filipino guys’ amateur music video inside the car lip synched it. I just can’t remember what music video in YouTube and when exactly was it when I saw that amateur music video. I thought those young filipino guys residing in Germany were ok. I thought not bad at all. I thought that the song was ok too but never really bothered to look for more information about it because I didn’t know the title.
You would surely laugh at the funny intro…
When I visited Carissa’s blog, this music video was there, …Black Eyed Peas rap in Tagalog… I got curious. I never realized that Apl.de.ap of Black Eyed Peas was the original singer. I didn’t even remember Apl even if I already heard that there is a Filipino among the Black Eyed Peas. I tried to look for some info before, about a Filipino being a member of Black Eyed Peas but can’t even remember him until I saw the music video this morning.
I found more music videos at YouTube and even found articles about it. It was an interesting read for me. “Bebot”, that’s the title of the song, became popular especially among Filipinos and even to non-Filipinos. I’m not really fond of rap nor hip hop songs but I have watched some of the music videos of Black Eyed Peas at MTV and they were actually good.
More interesting music videos about “Bebot” of Apl.de.ap of Black Eyed Peas.
More at Jazzy Bebot, Jazzy Bebot #2 and YouTube Black Eyed Peas “Bebot”.
Interesting reads about “Bebot” of Apl.de.ap of Black Eyed Peas. I still included the last one, although it’s not really an article, and the music videos were already online since August 4, 2006.

A friend, aye, sent me the link to the other music video of Apl. Thanks ye, I also saw the video but didn’t include it as I was writing about “Bebot”. But thanks goodness you sent it, because I just realized that I also included the Apl Song Saga when I was writing about the “Bebot” song. Anyway, I transferred the video below “Black Eyed Peas – The Apl Song Saga”, added another video “Behind the Scenes of the Apl Song”, and included the other one that you sent me, “Black Eyed Peas Apl song”.
Just a note, the lyrics of “Bebot” are all in Fillipino, the other one is a mix of Filipino and English.
Black Eyed Peas – The Apl Song Saga
I hope you all had fun watching the music videos and the other videos! Have a wonderful day!
Hi Sofie!
Haha, how cool you posted about this! The first time I thought that the Black Eyed Peas had a connection to the Filipino community was when I read the “thank you’s /credits” on their CD called “Bridging the gaps” (when they were still singing without Fergie and were less mainstream. I went to their concert in Zurich in 2001 or 2002). Apl.de.ap. wrote something like “thank you to all the filipino friends” or so. And once I heard the song “Bebot” on their most recent CD, I was like “oh my God, how cool is this!”
Btw, did you know that Chad Hugo from The Neptunes (www.n-e-r-d.com, or here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chad_Hugo ) is Filipino too? They’re lined to Justin Timberlake, really cool music (at least if you ask me, haha)
Yeah!
Hi Carissa! Thanks to you! Hahaha… I was surfing YouTube yesterday like crazy just like the usual if I’m looking for something interesting enough to read and watch. I will at least recognize Apl.de.ap of Black Eyed Peas now.
The Neptunes? Goodness gracious, I don’t know the group! So, I don’t know Chad Hugo too. Poor me!
That’s the problem coz I’m not into rap nor hip hop nor R&B… I listen to music but not so often. I watch TV rather than listen to music while working at the computer.
Oh, and anything I watched in TV and found interesting, I surf the net about it but not really blogging about it. If I will blog about it, I think I will be blogging more than 10 times a day.
Hahaha, sure, if I posted everything or about every song I like, I’d be posting nonstop LOL
And don’t worry bout Chad Hugo: Many dont’ know, I just wanted to create some awareness here, hehe
YouTube is so useful….every now and then I check a missed episode of TV series (cuz that way I can watch it in English, not in the German dubbed version
)
Hi Sofie!
Thanks for posting these videos. I’m so proud of Apl!!
I’m quite sure that it’s actually Chad Hugo in the APL Song video (1′11”) making a short appearance
And I’m proud that I at least know what “ang buhay ko” means
Hi Carissa! Hahaha, you’ll definitely be posting more than I can post.
Hey, TSR and TSI are sometimes showing the shows in English, like Charmed, Everwood, Doc, Gilmore Girls, etc. Can’t remember the other shows. Don’t know if I wrote the right titles, cuz you know, they’re sometimes changing them, like for example, The Bold and Beautiful, it’s in English at around 6:20pm I think, but it’s entitled at TSR as Top Models.
I watched the videos again. Yep, it’s Chad Hugo! I compared him to the last guy talking on the video “The Black Eyed Peas – Behind the Scenes of the Apl Song” when Patricio Ginelsa mentioned him (4:00 onwards). After Patricio Ginelsa, Chad Hugo was shown being interviewed on the video.
So you know what “ang buhay ko” means! Now, you’re learning… keep it going.
Hello Thess! I never realized that Apl is actually good! I’m so proud of him too for announcing to the whole world that he is a Filipino… Ok, ok… Filipino-American…
Apol has really gone a long way since he left the Philippines. He makes you realize that Filipinos can make it anywhere if they really want it to happen.
True indeed, Doc Emer.
Hi Sofie,
I just learned that there is a Swiss-Filipino rapper in the US
Or, at least I think that he’s a Swiss-Filipino rapper because he calls himself PINOYSWISS and plays in a band called MYNORITIES:

Hi Dani,
If he calls himself pinoyswiss, he must really be a Swiss Pinoy. I just don’t know the group mynorities since I’m not really into rap nor hip hop songs. As I was browsing YouTube, seems like there’s a lot of Pinoy Bands in the US. Well, of course, Swiss Pinoy in the US, is rare.
I enjoyed this vblogging of yours dear sofie! thanks for sharing
