European Destination 4b: England

We left Bath and went to London. Once we arrived at the Victoria Station in London, we just walked along Buckingham Palace Road to St. George’s Drive going to the hotel.

After checking in at the hotel, as we still had time to go around, we took our lunch and joined the “Jack the Ripper” combined bus and walk tour.

The next day, we walked around the Westminster area. We went to see the Parliament Square, Westminster Abbey, St. Margaret’s Church, Big Ben, House of the Parliament, Tate Modern Museum, Bridge Street, Westminster Underground Station, Victoria Embankment, British Airways London Eye, Battle of Britain Monument, Waterloo Bridge, Walk Bridge near the Embankment Station, Thames River, Royal Festival Hall, Blackfriars Bridge among others.

After Tate Modern Museum, we went to Oxford Street in Oxford Circus, then to Picadilly Circus and Haymarket area.

The next day, we went to see the Buckingham Palace, Harrods, and Trafalgar Square. We went inside the National Gallery in Trafalgar Square. After the National Gallery, we went to the Tower of London but was not able to go inside the place itself but we were able to get some pictures of the Tower Bridge on the Thames River.

We went back to the hotel early right after our dinner as we needed to wake up early for our flights back home the next day.

European Destination 4a: England

We flew from Amsterdam Airport Schiphol to London Heathrow Airport. Once we arrived in London, we went straight to Bath, England.

The next day, we got up early, ate breakfast at the hotel, and off we went for a whole-day sightseeing tour in Wiltshire, to Stonehenge, Avebury, Lacock, and Castle Combe in Cotswolds.

The next day, we went for another whole-day sightseeing tour in the Cotswolds, to Bibury, Stow-on-the-Wold, and The Slaughters.

After the trip, we went around shopping in Bath just like the other day, and later ate dinner at one of the pubs.

The next day, we did not get up that early unlike the past two days. We just ate breakfast, then packed our things, paid our bills, left the hotel, went to the train station, and waited for the delayed train for our trip back to London.

European Destination 3: Netherlands

I mentioned on my last blog entry that the day after our whole day trip in Antwerp, Belgium, we went to Kinderdijk, to Madurodam at The Hague, and the next day to Amsterdam.

Friends brought us to Kinderdijk, located in the province of Zuid Holland. We walked along the canal, enjoyed the scenery and went inside one of the windmills.

Our next destination was Madurodam at The Hague. Madurodam is a miniature city.

After an enjoyable walk at the Madurodam, we called it a day. The next day, we went to Amsterdam just to familiarize with the place but went back to our friends’ place.

Then the next day, we went back to Amsterdam again. We met some more friends then went to Rijkmuseum. After our Rijkmuseum tour, we had our canal boat tour and afterwards went to discover the red light district.

The next day, we took a trip to Zaanse Schans windmill village, Volendam and Marken fishing villages. Ater the trip we went to Anne Frank Museum.

The next day, we just walked around Museumplein, enjoyed the sun at the park before going to the airport for our trip to England.

European Destination 2: Belgium

We went back to Netherlands after our trip in Germany. But before going to Amsterdam, we went first to Antwerp in Belgium.

We started our tour by walking along De Keyserlei (street), Leysstraat (street), the Meir (street) going to “Rubenshuis” or Rubens’ House along the Wapper (street). “Rubenshuis” is now a museum.

After seeing Rubens’ House, we roamed around the city.

The next day, we went to Kinderdijk and Madurodam, and the day after that we went to Amsterdam.
