Wynn Macau, Macau Peninsula, Macau

After our lunch at the Grand Lisboa during our Macau Day Tour, we went to another casino hotel, to Wynn Macau. We were lucky enough because just when we arrived at Wynn Macau, the choreographed performance lake started.

The dancing fountain was very entertaining even at day time. After watching the dancing fountain at the performance lake, we went inside the casino hotel.

The walk was short around the casino hotel so we did not really see a lot at Wynn Macau. We did not even see the iconic golden Tree of Prosperity and the Dragon of Fortune.

We wanted to eat something at Wynn Macau but we did not find a place to our liking.

We left Macau early because we got hungry. We did not like to look for another place where we could eat or go back to Grand Lisboa.

Wynn Macau is a luxury integrated resort, the first Las Vegas-style integrated resort in Asia. It is located along Rua Cidade de Sintra just across the Casino Lisboa.

Grand Lisboa, Macau Peninsula, Macau

We have not been to a lot of places yet in Macau Peninsula during our Macau Day Tour when we got hungry. After visiting Macau Cathedral, we could not find a restaurant to our liking so we decided to have lunch at the Grand Lisboa upon seeing all the time the imposing tower of the casino hotel.

Grand Lisboa has a fountain inside the hotel situated at the ground floor lobby. There were also different big dark sculptures which I was not able to identify aside from the sculptures at the small exhibition area near the hallway to the elevators.

After looking at the various sculptures, we went up to the upper second floor and had our lunch at the Round-the-Clock Coffee Shop. It was not merely a coffee shop as it offered a wide selection of specialties from all over the world.

Casino Lisboa, the original Casino Lisboa with its three-storey-complex and 12-storey round hotel tower were built in 1960s and 1970 respectively. In 2006, another extension was built next to the complex in Macau, a 261 meters or 856 feet tall Grand Lisboa with 58 floors.

Grand Lisboa is located along Avenida do Infante D. Henrique and Avenida de Lisboa.

Macau Cathedral, Macau Peninsula, Macau

After taking pictures of the dramatic facade with its 66 Stone Steps and simply looking tirelessly at the Ruins of St. Paul’s during our Macau Day Tour, we continued our walk. Along the way, we saw a nice fountain and a church at Largo da Sé.

The church building was so simple. We had no idea about the church but we eventually learned upon entering the church that it was actually the Macau Cathedral.

The Cathedral was built in 1576. In 1850, the Cathedral was rebuilt and consecrated. But in 1874, 24 years later after it was rebuilt, it was almost destroyed in a typhoon and was extensively repaired. In 1937, the Cathedral was completely rebuilt to what it is today, with two solid towers and massive doors.

The Macau Cathedral and the Cathedral Square are parts of the “Historic Centre of Macau”. The Historic Centre of Macau was officially inscribed on July 15, 2005 on the prestigious UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Ruins of St. Paul’s, Macau Peninsula, Macau

After visiting St. Dominic’s Church at the Historic Centre of Macau in Macau Peninsula during our Macau Day Tour, we went to the St. Paul’s Ruins or the Ruins of St. Paul’s.

St. Paul’s Ruins refer to the facade of the original St. Paul’s Cathedral which was built in 1602 adjoining the College of St. Paul of the Jesuits.

The stone of the facade of the St. Paul’s Cathedral was carved in between 1620 and 1627 by the Japanese Christians in exile and local craftsmen under the direction of an Italian Jesuit named Carlo Spinola.

The Ruins of St. Paul’s is part of the “Historic Centre of Macau”. The Historic Centre of Macau was officially inscribed on July 15, 2005 on the prestigious UNESCO World Heritage Site.
